ECO-OIL

Quimitécnica Ambiente works closely with Eco-Oil.

This company owns modern industrial premises for the treatment of oil wastewaters in Mitrena-Setubal, and operates in accordance with environmental regulations.

This facility is designed for the processing of oil wastewaters
• from tankers and other ships, and
• from commercial and industrial land activities.

The separation of the oil from the water occurs principally due to gravity, with the possible assistance of heat. The oily residue is recovered, and the water is treated by filtration, flotation and then subjected to a biological treatment in fixed film reactors. The treatment of the sludge, resulting from these operations, involves a decanting process, followed by centrifugation.

Quimitécnica Ambiente has an equity interest in Ecodeal, one of the two winners in 2005 of a public contest for the licensing of integrated treatment centres, valorisation and the elimination of dangerous waste, CIRVER.

CIRVER integrates the following activities

• Laboratory
• Classification, separation and transfer unit.
• Physical-chemical treatment unit.
• Organic waste treatment unit.
• Contaminated packaging valorisation unit.
• Stabilization unit.
• Dangerous industrial waste landfill.
• Soil decontamination unit.

This facility plays a fundamental role in a strategy that favours, on one hand, the country’s self sufficiency in the management of this type of waste and, on the other hand, makes the reduction, valorisation and treatment processes more compliant to the Best Available Techniques.

Ecodeal’s CIRVER was inaugurated on the 4th June 2008, having already begun operating.
