| Opening of Ecodeal’s CIRVER |
|
On the 4th of June 2008, a facility has been opened in Portugal to treat most types of industrial dangerous waste. Ecodeal’s CIRVER was inaugurated by the Ministry for the Environment.
On the 4th of June 2008, in Carregueira, Chamusca, Quimitecnica Ambiente fulfilled a long lasting wish: a national solution to Portuguese industry’s problems in dealing with dangerous waste.
The unit, now opened, occupies about 31.4 ha and has a capacity to treat in the region of 200,000 tonnes annually. It has different treatment processes to treat, recycle and dispose almost all types of industrial dangerous waste, using the most modern technology and the most efficient management techniques. Some of the residues include, among others, oily waste, emulsions, muds, chemical industry waste, waste from thermal processes, paint waste, varnishes, surface treatment, solvent mixtures, contaminated soils, and packaging contaminated with industrial dangerous waste. This opening represents, therefore, not only the fulfilment of a long-held aspiration of Quimitecnica Ambiente, but, most of all, a decisive step forward for, not only, both industry and Portugal in modernising the management of industrial dangerous waste, but also for sustainability and environmental responsibility.
